I think it would be great to scan them, for you own backup/preservation if
nothing else. For you own personal uses, it is fine to scan them as far as
copyright goes. Sharing them might be "questionable" going by the letter of
the law, but OTOH, since the magazine is out of print, I think it might be
OK. Are you thinking of putting them online or sharing with interested
parties?
