You only have a couple of weekends left to create slide images for the stereo
section of the Detroit Salon. Remember these special awards as you go out
shooting:
There are the regular "Best of Show", "Best Creative", "Best Landscape/Seascape"
and "Judge's Choice (3 - one for each judge) awards. We also have a "Best Macro"
award.
There are some other awards you might not think of when you are out taking
pictures. One is the Charles Helin "Best Fishing With Bait" award. Charles had a
successful fishing tackle company (Helin Tackle) and this award has been carried
on in his memory. So if you have a chance to get a few fishing images, remember
to take a really good one for the Salon.
An award that was introduced a few years ago is the Tommy Thomas "Best
Stereolusion" award. Tommy created many special effects photos, usually
incorporating double exposures or masking techniques. You can see examples of
his work in the Morgan and Lester "Stereo Realist Manual" (he has a whole
chapter on "Stereolusions"). You can create these in any manner (in camera or
using Photoshop or slide copying techniques).
So think about these when going out with your camera (or cameras) this weekend.
You don't have to go for a special award to enter the Salon, of course.
Closing date is Monday, September 22nd - you still have time to shoot and mount,
then re-shoot if necessary! ;~)
The entry form can be found on the PSA Stereo Division website:
