In these times of economic crisis, the International Exhibitions Standards
Committee will meet on the first of April to approve cost reductions for
stereo exhibitions. Proposed changes include:

1. Increasing the number of submitted stereo slides from four to four and a
half, allowing use of that odd frame at the end of the film roll.

2. Reducing stereo print sizes to allow use of postcard postage rates and
prepaid envelopes.

3. Limiting digital entries to only 16 trillion colors.

4. Adding a new anaglyph print section for low-cost monochrome prints. The
viewing glasses will be clear (white) and black.

5. Floor-mounted phantogram prints will be limited in size; the infinity
point will be no further away than the length of a toilet paper roll.

6. Stereo print exhibitions can continue to use those judges blind in one
eye. However, such judges must be able to blink their good eye at 30 Hz
while moving their heads side-to-side (cha-cha) at the same rate.

7. All exhibition awards will be digital and emailed to the winners, who can
print their award on their favorite paper, t-shirt, or coffee cup.

8. Entry fees can be paid by cash, check, or defaulted mortgage loans.

9. Excess entry fees will be returned, except in California where you will
receive an IOU.

10. Sorry, these changes cannot be debated. They must be passed now so that
500 million stereo photographers will not be put out of work.

Reminder to you stereo card makers: the closing date for the Stereoscopic
Society of America's 13th International Stereo Card Exhibition is now only about
a month away (July 3rd).  The exhibition will be judged at the NSA convention in
Mesa, Arizona and the award winners will be exhibited at the convention.  If you
have up to four cards that have not been previously accepted in an SSA
exhibition, please submit them!

Entry forms can be downloaded from either the PSA Stereo Division website
(www.psa-stereo.org/) or the Detroit Stereographic Society website

Pauline Fredrickson was very active in the Photographic Society of America (PSA)
stereo division and had come down to judge several of our past SCSC
International
Exhibitions, but she unfortunately had been ill for some time.
She had been admitted to Sutter Roseville Medical Center last Tuesday.

Sad news came from her husband Ron Fredrickson, also a longtime PSA &
SCSC supporter and 3-D News subscriber yesterday, July 24th.

"My beloved wife, Pauline, passed away this afternoon."
"Early Wednesday morning I received a call from the hospital that she had been
transferred to intensive care, where she was receiving oxygen and IV solutions."
"Yesterday and today she was totally unresponsive, and today she had
failures of major organ systems, particularly lungs and heart...she passed away
at about 1:45 p.m."

In accordance with Pauline's wishes there will not be any funeral services.

I have a question about the Slide of the Year judging.  When is the deadline
for this?  Will we be notified of our qualifying entries?

I just started entering exhibitions again last year... I had stopped for a
couple of years because I was very busy. I am not less busy now, but there
are a few things in life that I enjoy and this one of them.  There will
always be time for work later.  This is my new motto. :)
