Thanks for this, and yes, tried all those
Dear Folks
I'm moving on. Many thanks to all on this list, particularly Oliver
and Daniel for the many Pace-saving hints (including the 26 zeros to
add to the ISP number). Deeply grateful. If anyone wants my Solo they
are welcome to it, for spares or whatever. It all works, except that
it won't take voice messages. I'm in London, and might even be
persuaded to post it to anybody keen enough to reply. No charge, out
of gratitude for help received.
I've bought an Olitec Universal Self Memory Pro, also French,
(distributors can be found at www. sound-tech.co.uk) which does
exactly the same thing, but seems on first acquaintance to actually
work properly. 4 Megs memory, 2 minute voice message limit and no
ability to change outgoing message remotely, but (touch wood, and so
far) it connects first time at 48000 on an old BT line, doesn't mind
AppleTalk being on, and doesn't seem to change its settings randomly
or refuse to upload faxes. although it appears only to accept
multi-page faxes in one particular mode from some machines.
It's PC or Mac, USB and serial.
Blessings on all, and Kia-Ora. Regards brian
