Lightening strikes?

My Solo doesn't want to connect at any other speed than 26,400bits/s.
Normally connections would have been 48,000. The only cause I can
think of is a recent storm when lightening certainly upset the house
alarm. If lightening has cause this fault, can I repair it by
re-installing firmware?
