Description

The picture to the left is to the memory of David Fletcher who just passed away on us. He is the first person on the left.
This forum is dedicated to those people who enjoy observing with one of the most popular-selling telescopes on the market today~ the 60mm refractor. Our group is for both beginner and expert alike. We will discuss such topics as observing, telescopes and improvements. The owners of all makes and models, computerized or manual 60mm telescopes are encouraged to join in.

Although it must be recognized that, though from time to time there have been some bad scopes made, it is alright to discuss this topic on this forum. But the wholesale bashing of 60mm telescopes will not be tolerated. There are plenty of other sites out there with so-called telescope experts screaming at you that you got to have a giant light bucket to see anything. Here we plan to dispel that myth . With that said, lets get a lively discussion going.
A few words about your mediator: I have been an active amateur astronomer for over 45 years and have taught beginners astronomy for our local adult night school for 10 years. I am a member of the Chesmont Astronomical Society where I write an article called "Kellstar the small telescope report" each month for our newsletter. This article is based mainly around the 60mm telescope and I hope to incorporate this article into this site for members on request.
Even with my experience I would hardy consider myself an expert so by all means feel free jump in with your opinion if you don't agree with me. Last but not least, I am neither an English major or a computer geek, so expect problems and misspellings. One other point, I will try to get to any questions that warrant my attention as soon as possible. I will be checking this site in the evenings after work and if the skies are good, I will be out observing. Surely you don't think I am going to be sitting behind a computer on a good night!
