I ordered an ST80 for use as a guide scope and for birdwatching, but
it is back-ordered until the 27th of Feb..

Anyone know if there is a story behind this? Are these too popular or
out of style?

The ST80 was on the Deal of the Day sale at Orion twice last month, I think, the Astro version for $175, so that might have reduced available inventory. I...
