We used to have them in 412/724... still do, sometimes, of the people
who still live around there.

Debbie,

Thanks for the clarification. You are correct, I was referring to Ron Bell. I
hope he is doing okay :)

I remember trade wars that was a cool game.

I do appreciate your post. You made me think more of all the good times I had
with these BBSers :)

I hope we can get more responses from the old volusia bbs folks.

Rod

Goldsmith was a younger lightbrown/blondish guy. He always hung around Dave
(Innkeeper) I think you are talking about Ron Bell. He was good with everyone.
He was much older than all of us. I remember the Commodore and the black kid
that ran his BBS on that. I also remember the Atari--Dustin Miller. We may
have met but it has been so long. I seem to remember going to Jacksonville for
one event and all I can remember was sitting in a bar but it was a BBS event.

But my overall best game would be "Elite", so much grafix and playability was so
smooth; contained in a single 3.5 diskette :)

Majority had Atari ST, but of course Apple, Commodore, and IBM started to get
into it. When commodore bought Amiga, I remember someone put up the first Amiga
BBS in the county. Castle of Doom was running Atari XL then to ST with 8
different floppy disk drives which always crashed, then I would ride my bike to
his place and restart everything (his garage door was always open) :)

We also had summer parties in my back yard and they were fun! Got to meet with

I also need someone to come up with a logo.

And help me decide which URL would be the best choice for the group. By default
I put my URL up but it was a default choice and replaceable.

I have tried to point to all the bbs lists I could think of but I probably
missed one or more.

Where is that C64 list? I have a member who had a C64 up in NY when he was

The C64/C128 BBS list is at http://cbbsoutpost.servebbs.com.
Unfortunately, that site appears to be down right now. I've sent an
e-mail to David Spriggs, who maintains that site, to find out what's
going on. If for some reason he's not able to get the site back up,
I'll go back to doing the monthly text BBS list.

I am not sure if Ron would still be with us, he was up in his years way back
then. It would be nice to have more come this way and kind of have a
following--if not from the BBS standpoint but for memory sharing and what they
are doing now because of the BBS age.

I am trying to find Ashley Gillium--he had his own BBS there for a short time.
I think it was Solomans Temple or something to do with King Soloman.
I have sent Dave Innkeeper) this group in the hopes that he would come and join
us, but I am not sure what he is thinking about all this. I haven't heard
anything from him in regards to this.

If you have an account on Facebook, I am there! My name is Debbie Lewis Allen
on that social network.

Anyone who needs hosting for a museum type site, i.e. BBS information,
etc. I'll donate sites to.. Platform is windows, sql db will be
available, asp.net, etc. I prefer to do DotNetNuke based sites for
content management, but any custom asp.net or just plain html sites are
fine.

I just got an e-mail back from David Spriggs. Apparently, a power
outage at his house a few days ago caused his server to go down, but
he was unaware that it was down until I had mentioned it to him.
Anyway, the Commodore BBS list is back up again at

I can probably arrange to host the site at chatnfiles.com if it comes to that,
it would be (I think) http://cbbsoutpost.chatnfiles.com My setup cost would be
nominal, you would have setup/update access via secure Ftp (you need a secure
ftp client though).

I saw another message about someone offering to host websites on another message
in this thread so you have at least 3 choices.

Ř I saw another message about someone offering to host websites on another

Just to clarify, I'm not offering reselling / space on another site/domain - we
have our own AS #, BGP routed multihomed network, routers, firewalls, servers,
etc. Our physical space is in Equinix (one largest carrier neutral facility
provider).

Anyone running one of these museum type sites should consider these kind of
offers instead of hosting at home, hosting at home doesn't really give you any
advantages. We've done dedicated servers sometimes for donations but that's
rare and requires that you need something truly distinct.

We certainly like having bbs's that are up posted here. Are eob-bbs and

He covers things like RTTY porn ("ASCII porn"), shareware CDs, and
pornographic video games.

Enjoy.

Hi folks. I realize the list has been dormant for several months, but
also spam free, thankfully. If you're still reading the list, I
thought now might be a good time to invite you to post your projects,
websites, inquiries and so forth. So long as it is related to the
topic of this list - the 80s BBS scene (don't mind the early 90s
either) - it won't be considered spam.

I wanted to point y'all at a computer history page I am maintaining.
Mostly this covers things that interest me, but this includes things
like old systems presently accessible via the Internet (such as gopher
servers and so on). If you have a project that you'd like to be on
the list, or have any favorites that aren't there, please let me know
by mailing me at the e-mail address at the bottom of the page:

http://www.dataswamp.net/computerhistory/

There are some links to ddials (yep, they're still around) there as
well as Commodore BBSes accessible via telnet and dialup (on original
hardware!), and even one Apple //e BBS, The Age of Reason. If you
have a little free time, log on and support your favorite vintage
computing projects....

So if anyone is still out there reading, give a shout...

Folks,

http://www.ChatNFiles.com bbs
ChatNFiles bbs, a hybrid telnet chat/private e-mail server and ftp server with
some webpages for the "glue" to hold them together is still alive and kicking.
Complete with someplace near 800,000 files mostly organized by cd-rom available
for downloads. I am in the process of trying to convert it into a registration
required but free access bbs. Right now that means you have may register on the
chat/private e-mail system, you have to provide an e-mail address for Anonymous
Ftp downloads, and the message area is a Yahoo group that requires an e-mail to
participate in.

The telnet bbs guide is also alive. I looked last month and 3-5 new bbs's had
been added according to his summary. You can also subscribe to him on a Yahoo
group.

http://telnetbbsguide.com/
I am listed by special dispensation because my chat/private e-mail server is a
telnet only system. And that is what the guide links to.

I also have a linkedin.com bbs sysop group available for you to join and chat on
if you wish.

I would like to start a thread for mobile job seekers. If you are willing to

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tom Miller, tlgalenson@... http://www.linkedin.com/in/tlgalenson

I am an IT Consultant. I have turned my hand to tech support/desktop support,
web development and IT Consulting. I want to move into being a Business Analyst
/ Project Manager.

I am looking for contracts and/or jobs in IT related areas. To move to it the
hourly rate has to be over $20/hour plus COLA. If it is near Topeka, KS to the
Kansas City Metro area it could be less.

I would especially be interested in Junior Business Analyst, Entry-level
Business Analyst, Junior Project Manager/Entry-level Project Manager, Junior
Systems Analyst/Entry-level Systems Analyst type jobs.

I have certifications in Certified Associate in Project Management
(www.pmi.org), 2 Microsoft Certified Professional (XP/Pro & Windows 2000
Server), A+ from CompTIA.org, Microsoft Office Specialist (Word, PowerPoint,
Outlook, Access) and way back I have a Certified Novell Administrator 5.1.
