The Alaska/Arctic Environmental Defense Fund was founded Earth Day 2000. The AEDF is a non-profit, non-partisan, circumpolar umbrella organization. The AEDF endeavors to unite the numerous environmental and social advocacy groups in Alaska, Canada, Greenland, Iceland, Nunavut, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Faroe Islands, Russia, and Siberia. Our main purpose is to educate circumpolar peoples on social and environmental issues, advocate responsible stewardship of natural resources, inform northern peoples about the political process, protect circumpolar wilderness areas, and provide academic/non-academic information to groups advocating for the public interest and responsible policies.

All are welcomed and encouraged to join.
