Hi Ceri,
Just for grins I started the SIM (simulator) and told it that I was in
Seattle (SEA). I see that 1RL is the last airport to the north. I'm in
Florida and I fly to the Bahamas (also not covered). I asked the APIC
guys about it and they sent me a non-updated Bahama directory which made
the Bahamas work for me. Maybe they got one for Canada but I bet it
won't be updated data. Maybe it's just that I didn't install Canada as
there is no chance of me getting there anytime soon. Hey, just click
SIM and tell it where you want to be and see what it looks like.
APIC is a great VFR tool, and can be used to fly to Instrument Fixes or
you can make up an instrument approach flight plan but you will get NO
vertical guidance. Would be fantastic if APIC would allow you to
program a waypoint and a target altitude then give vertical guidance.
Then you could pre-program in all the approaches you use.
APIC does give vertical guidance to any runway now but it is not useable
as any part of a flight plan.
Mike
APIC user VFR for about 6 months now.
