I have APIC-map for my Pocket PC and it works very well with by Bluetooth GPS.
The problem I have is being in New Zealand the international data on the
Approach Systems web site is 3 years out of date and missing most of the
airports I would fly to in a Piper cub.
Using User Waypoints goes some of the way but these are pretty hard to maintain
on a Pocket PC and is buggy... editing lat/long without adding a new waypoint
will not save the changes, etc.
I have tried emailing support several times asking about tools or of they would
accept assistance in improving the database and got no reply (I understand that
you don't get much support for a $9.95 piece of software) hence the question....
does anyone know any tools to manage the APIC data or have the file formats been
published anywhere?
The UserWaypoints format is fairly simple but the coordinate system is not
obvious so this is the biggest barrier to writing my own application to manage
these.
Regards
Andrew
My buddy built a small touch screen 7" XP based PC for his plane.
Doesn't like the touch screen part. Doesn't work well in a plane. I
ended up with a handheld track ball. It is happy when you hit a bump as
it just goes for the ride in your hand. I also found that wireless
devices don't work well in the plane either, maybe the transponder
freeks em out.
