Ah, summer is almost here. I've never had a chance to image the sights in the southern, summer, Milky Way, and there is a lot to see. Here is M16, the Eagle Nebula.

The image was taken with a modified Canon XSi using a TAK 106ED (f/5). Guiding was done through a piggybacked Borg 77ED with a DMK firewire camera and PHD. Calibration and normalization was done with Images Plus; alignment and combining (median) with Registar; digital development with Images Plus; final adjustments with Photoshop. This is a cropped version of the image to show more detail in the nebula. The image is from 10 x 4 minute exposures (ISO1600). Yes, more time is needed, but it was warm and late.
Processing suggestions are welcome. I haven't done color for quite awhile. The XSi is quite an improvement over the 20D that I used previously. I think it has less noise and all the control is through a single USB connection with the computer. Camera control was through Images Plus.
