Description

Group for discussions about using ATVOS data. With 40 sounder channels (20 microwave, 19 thermal and 1 visible), there is a vast amount of data available. Data from the whole world is available from the SAA, and for an extended Europe from Eumetsat. The challenges are:

- how to combine the channels (see links section)?
- pass merging, just dumping the new data on top of the old?
- making a 3D atmospheric model - in an amateur context?
- adding the data to other programs such as Digital Atmosphere?

I see the first ATOVS data has just come through from Saint-Denis (La Reunion) station (std). So far only 1a and 1c data has been sent which is unusable.

Further to my mail yesterday it would appear that the USA stations run by NOAA do not produce level L1A or L1D data, only L1B and L1C Gilmore Creek / Monterey

Re: New EARS Stations
Further to my mail below I have to advise that EPS-View is no longer available from Eumetsat and is unsupported. I apologise for any confusion caused. Regards
