The Austral Variable Star Observer Network (AVSON) is a meeting point for amateur astronomers (professionals are also most welcome) who generally observe southern hemisphere variable stars, novae and supernovae. The 'observer' definition includes (not exclusively) visual, photographic, spectral and digital imagers of all interests and skill levels. AVSON aims to facilitate the fast exchange of information relating to all types of southern variable stars across a trans-national network of observers.
