The Austral Variable Star Observer Network (AVSON) is a meeting point for amateur astronomers (professionals are also most welcome) who generally observe southern hemisphere variable stars, novae and supernovae. The 'observer' definition includes (not exclusively) visual, photographic, spectral and digital imagers of all interests and skill levels. AVSON aims to facilitate the fast exchange of information relating to all types of southern variable stars across a trans-national network of observers.
If you are interested in variable stars and can see the Southern Cross and Magellanic Clouds, or dream of doing so one day, then AVSON is the place for you.
