I was recently involved in a cell phone design where we had access to
a very rich simulation of the phone execution environment. You could
run the phone on a PC. Also interesting phone events could be sent to
the "phone" via a socket. We used FitNesse to describe how the phone
should behave and had fixtures that fed events (like key presses) to
the phone and collected the phone responses (like data written to
field) We wrote Java FitNesse fixtures and tested the C++
implementation of the phone. We had tests running on the simulation
and the real phone via this mechanism.
