Description

This is "THE AMERICAN BUCKEYE CLUB" Yahoo group...we are dedicated to the preservation of the Buckeye poultry breed. The group was established as a place for hobbyist, heritage breeders, exhibitors & other Buckeye Chicken enthusiasts to share information about Buckeyes. The American Buckeye Club lives here & is home of the "ORIGINAL" ONE and ONLY "FREE" Buckeye Club & Breeder Directory on the internet....visit us at www.americanbuckeyeclub.org to locate Buckeye breeders!

The American Buckeye Club was originally founded in 1909 by Mrs. Nettie Metcalf, the club was recreated by a group of Ohio based Buckeye breeders in January 2008. The "official" website was launched in January 2009 followed by this Yahoo group. We are an internet based breed Club, we don't have an executive board, we dont' have membership dues, we don't have club bylaws, best of all we don't have club politics! The website manager & moderator of this site is Jeff Lay (other American Buckeye Club co-founders wish to remain annonymous for various reasons).

Established by Buckeye poultry fanciers, enthusiasts & breeders, our goal is to help others & promote the Buckeye breed by spreading the word to those interested in heritage poultry. Questions, comments, husbandry discussions, sales of chickens, chicks, and/or hatching eggs are welcome here as we are all trying to produce the “best” Buckeyes or diversify the genetics of our flock. Please keep two-way conversations and business dealings off list (private) so as to not “fill” up the digest.

Membership is based upon approval & this will hopefully cut down on spam. When requesting your membership to this group, please state more than "I like Buckeye Chickens" in the comments! Chances are this type of request will not be approved. Please NO flaming....We have a ONE strike rule that applies to ALL spam & flaming. NO EXCEPTIONS!

Re: Buckeye x Chantecler sex link
Niki, Typically you get larger size from a cross due to "hybrid vigor".....this has been my experience anyway! Yes, males should be very light yellow or white

Re: Buckeye x Chantecler sex link
Thanks Jeff. I think I'll try that. So I'm guessing I'll get red pullets and white cockerels? I really like both breeds. Wonder if the resulting chicks

Re: Buckeye Broiler Project
Pete, Turkeys, at least the BB whites and bronzes are eating machines. They remind me of broiler chickens in that regard. The Buckeyes seem to be less
