Hi. I just joined the group and have been researching the American Chestnut
lately. I live on the Mississippi Gulf coast and have had one of these trees in
my yard since I moved down here from CT. back in '91. The tree has been
producing fruit the last couple years and I am not aware of any other trees in
this area so I believe it is self polinating. I believe you should be able to
grow these trees in Florida since we have about the same climate.
