I'm trying to select components for a hybrid we are developing. It's
a backyard project, so any expert help would be greatly appreciated.
I'm planning for some electric wheel motors on each wheel (with
regenerative braking), with a diesel generator to charge the
batteries. It's a series-hybrid - the generator NEVER assists the
electrical engines - it is for recharging only.
My question is, considering weight and COST and SIMPLICITY, is it
better for me to use DC or AC electric motors? (taking into account
all the peripheral electronics as well - speed control etc.)
