Hi Brad,
It's more or less the same tractor, with a smaller engine, hydraulic pump(4.5 GPM),tires, and less trans speeds. Still made between 1960 and 1865, 30 drawbar HP, 36 PTO HP, weighs about the same 3900-5800#.
Row Crop (R), Single Wheel Row Crop (RS), Row Crop Utility (RU), Special Row Crop Utility (RUS),Orchard (O), Utility (U), and Industrial Wheel (W) in addition to two crawler types.
Serial numbers:
1960: 10001
1961: 13692
1962: 23630
1963: 32188
1964: 43900
1965: 53722
Final: 57312
Check Ebay for manuals, also local John Deere dealers can get them.

is a 1962 MDL 1010 and she had a 1010 owners manual and a 2010 parts manul and she thinks she was told that the parts were the same, and the 2010 replaced the 1010..but what liitle research I have started looks like the 2010 was probably the next size up... didnt matter to me since it started and ran well after sitting a whole year... it was sweet! I can not tell for certain if it is a row crop utility -looks like there were a lot of overlapping options, but the pictures shown looks like it matches the row crop utility.

The old manual had some torn pages and I am not sure if it matched seral number ranges or not- I need to check it out. I am reckoning a 16 ft twin axle trailor will be
quite adequate to haul it home.

I may have to go on the cheap and get or make a huge hand crank winch and weld to its front bumper- I need to find some kind of worm gear drive.... here we go another project!.

can take its toll on one's time. The Amptramp needs some tender loving care, to fix some worn out parts, but I have not been able to catch up with that task yet. Too much other stuff to do. Oh well, it's better to be busy than idle :) .

I been using my weldernater as needed to fabricate things so far mostly on truck , riding lawnmowers and small aluminum smelter- I am fixin to make a gingery lathe in- building patterns and casting aluminum and zinc igots in what little free time I can manage to create then maybe this winter try to pour it all and put it together..

Since it will save me hiring the work done or renting equipment, I feel that the wife sees it as an investment in a needed tool to improve the yard, not as a toy to play with, although for me it will be both! I noticed it had a few post factory welding modifactions performed on it... being about 3,000 pounds of steel and cast iron, there will be many opportunities to be creative and make some real attachments. ..

nowdays see a lot of yanmar, kubota,.. I know I am forgetting 2 or 3 big names of past tractors.. one is the orange colored tractor.. cant spit out the name... but it is on the end of my tongue...
