Hi folks,
As you will have seen, I have finally completed and uploaded
the "full-size cookie" Arachne core, 1.73J4 (alpha).
This should support full-size cookies if Arachne reports your
free conventional memory in Green [+] or half-size cookies if
Arachne reports your free conventional memory in Black [?].
Even with half-size cookies, this is more than enough to handle
the largest cookies I have encountered (eg. Yahoo Mail).
NB.: This particular build requires a 386+ and 387+.
Additional features of this core :
- Same stuff as 1.73J1 through 1.73J3.
- Uses about 5K less conventional memory (not taking 386/387
optimization into account, which saves a further 16K, for
a total saving of around 20K-23K).
- If you use the "Esc key = previous web page" option in
Arachne, you will now also be able to press the "Esc" key
to stop a web page loading, similar to the "X" button. To
get this "Esc" key behaviour in previous versions of Arachne,
you had to select a different option for the "Esc" key.
This new core uses a modified format for the Cookies.Lst file.
For this reason, the uploaded ZIP file includes utilities to
convert to/from the new/old file formats. Please use RunMe.Bat
to install, after unzipping to your Arachne directory.
I'll upload the source as soon as I have a chance to review
and/or tidy it up.
Well, that's all I can think of. Be aware this is an alpha
core - and enjoy!
Joe.
