Hi Mario and everyone,
The Costa Rica tour organized here is 10 days starting with small town of
Fortuna, then Volcano Arenal, local hotspring, Cano Negro Wildlife Refuge, Rio
Frio, Lake Arenal, Santa Elena, Monteverde Cloud Forest, Quepos, Manuel Antonio
National Park, then back to San Jose.
So the tour will be more of Central Northern Highland and then Pacific coast. I
want to add about 4 days exploration of La Selva to the end of the 10 days tour.
But maybe I will be too exhausted, as there is only local bus for transporting
between places that are far away (5 hours at a time).
It depends whether I can get May1-17 off from work, if not I will prospone this
Costa Rican trip until I am more prepared and planned better. Other 2 trip
plans are also possible; one is going to Vietnam and then finding aristolochia
in Cuc Phuong National Park near Hanoi. The second one is going to Borneo again
but doing Kota Kinabaru for Nepenthes and Rafflesia, and Lambir Hill National
Park to research and paint the vines on the suspension bridges in the canopy.
This is the side view painting of Aristolochia gorgona. I hope the colour is
right, it is more purple based on the photos on the La Selva site, very similar
to grandiflora but the tail is very different. Mario, please let me know if the
anotomy or colour is really off.
Thanks
Victor
