We have a web server in US. Currently in the server there are around
800 domains hosted. From the day we bought the server we are facing
typical problem which we don't have any solution. The problem is in a
day atleast 2 domains will start asking Username and Password when
people try to access it. If we delete those domains and recreate it on
the next day some other 2 or 3 domains will start asking Username and
Password when people try to access it. Even though we can able delete
and recreate it the mails associated with those domains will be lost.
Some customers will have mails backup some won't have it which irritate
our customers. We want to find a permanent solution for this. Where
could be the problem anybody has a solution for this kindly mail me.

Hi. I've got an ASP.NET app running on Windows 2003 Web Server using
IIS 6 and I'm having problems feeding images to the client. Any ideas
on some things I cn change in IIS to speed up the process? I've
increased the ASP buffer, and threads. Should I add worker process to
the web garden?

Thanks,
Bob Elder

Hi Vlad,

> I'm a newbie in IIS !!

All the same, if you expect to receive a viable solution based on "it
doesn't work" then you're asking for the impossible.

> I have a di704 dlink router.
> I tried without the router but i have the error again.

Then it's not the router. It's the code.

> I cant tell u about the db or the asp page. Because i

Then we can't help you.

If you don't show us the applicable code for the form and the page the
form posts to then it's simply not possible to help. You're asking for
a solution to a problem that may not even exist.

We really need more information to go with.

Is this an error from your asp page? From the router? What type of
router?

Can you provide some code where you think it is occuring, including
line numbers and sql/db details?

What type of database are you using (if any) and how are you
connecting to it?

Are you using SSL for your asp page? Is the page posting to an SSL
server?

Version) or Server 2003 (Either Version) that they would be willing
to make me a copy of? Or let me download it from somewhere?

I have my own product key code if that helps any.

Im just looking for a copy of the disc.

If not I understand.

Doug,

I have heard of this site, but never used them.  I host with a hosting company so that I don't have to deal with the security issues.  But I did it once, back when Comcast used to have static IP's for their customers.  But no longer :(

Do you have IIS set up?  That should come first.  Once you have it installed, you can set up the correct directories.

What FTP software are you using?

Mark.

Doug,

Do you have a static IP Address or a DNS service?  It takes a litle more than just an internet connection to host a website.

Do you have a domain name registered?  Did you update the DNS entry to piont to the server you have at home?  How did you set up the directory in IIS?

Post what you have done so far so that we can help.

I can tell this is going to take a LONG time to do, very confusion

Im hoping though with a lot of pateience and time i can get the hang
of this and get mine up and running.

Thanks for the help so far.

Now if i can just get my computer online through my router for the
out side world to connect to my server, website, ftp, ect ect.

Mark,

I think im getting somewhere.

I got the IIS installed and i was able to pull up the page under
construction.

I can tell this is going to take a LONG time to do, very confusion
and complicated.

Im hoping though with a lot of pateience and time i can get the hang
of this and get mine up and running.

Thanks for the help so far.

Now if i can just get my computer online through my router for the
out side world to connect to my server, website, ftp, ect ect.

Doug,

Well, you might have your work cut out for you.

IIS stands for Internet Information Service.  At a high level, it's MS software used to serve web pages.

IIS can be installed from the XP CD.  Here is an article on installing it:

I would also recommend getting a book on IIS.

If you have any problems, post them to the list.

I am told that it may be possible to host a web site with a DHCP connection (Cable Modem).

Can anyone enlighten me as to how?

And is so, is it a reliable connection?

Any drawbacks from a business perspective?

Thanks!

Goutam Dastider
