Hello Lynda,
I believe everyone's experience is different, and if we can be at peace
as well
as calm during an obe, it can and will be a better experience for us.
Its good to read you Lynda.

Oh my God, how awful! I do hope, somehow, you can find some peace in all
this. I can
imagine the trauma you are going through. My father committed suicide 5
yrs ago. He was found
by his mother, hanging from the ceiling in their living room, in his
home country Bulgaria. He found out he
had later stages of cancer, and he had only a brief time to live. No
letter or will was written to his children (my brother and I)
so things are still unsettled in our minds with this.
I know it is important to get details so you can start the healing
process, and yes, I know you miss
your brother. Often, I've wondered if I could obe and go see my father
and make sure he is at rest. But
a part of me already knows he is, and it's a place I feel its forbidden
for me to visit at this time.
I will send you healing thoughts and prayers Duane.
Let me know if I can help in any way!
blessings

I've read of cases where this has happened. This is the dream. If you find out how you do it you have to tell the rest of us :) OBEing whilst awake would be ideal.
You could imagine: Info gathering, travelling, exploring etc.

I resigned from my last place of work in Queensland and took up a job with the company I used to work for in Victoria (where Melbourne is). Cool. So we started packing ready for the big move to Victoria (the State Melbourne is in). Spoke to my family in Victoria two days after Christmas, Mum, Dad and my brother.
My brother was looking forward to us coming to Melbourne. We hadn't seen each other in 6 years (due to my mother, long story). New Year's day my Dad calls me at 6.30am. My brother was found hanging from a tree at 5.20am. At first we thought suicide but now the police are investigating it because of the people he was with at the time. Long story. So we (Karen and I) had to pack to relocate, sort out breaking a lease on the place we were renting, plan our drive down (1700Km) and deal with the loss of my brother. My brother and I were really close. Two days seemed like weeks. Family members from overseas in England were ringing, my Uncle, parents were ringing here in Australia. I went through despondency, misery, anger etc.
I'd hardly say we're over the whole incident. Today I started my new job in Coles Group, Victoria.
And I miss my brother
He was 34 and in a crap marriage he didn't want to be in (due largely to my stupid mother and her selfishness. As I said, long story).
That's where I've been.
I should get more into my OBEing now things are kinda settling, kinda.
I didn't want to burden everyone with this news because it is miserable.
Anyhow...

Experiment, but it is very interesting. It also has its own website

Let's pick a specific date & time (considering time differences)and
send one of us (or each other) some mental encouragement and
visualization toward successful projection. I still believe that
technique is not as important as intention and attitude. And that's
where we can and always have helped each other.
My own experimentation goes on, though with great lengths of time
between experiences. It all counts, rare though it is. But we can do
this, and I remain convinced it is ultimately a simple thing. Let's
encourage each other and see what happens.

*The Bhandas*
The Bhandas are a system for closing off the body from the outer,
sensual, world, as well as opening the body to receive maximum benefits
from the flow of breath. Bhanda is the Sanskrit work for lock, and here
it has two meaningful translations. First, we can think of a lock which
seals off a room. The Bhandas seal out stimuli to allow us to turn
inward. Second, we can think of a lock which permits flow as through a
canal. The Bhandas improve the flow of our breath by physically
positioning the body for maximal breath capacity and by allowing us to
focus single-pointedly upon it.
Ancient yogic teaching tells us that our vital energy, or prana, is
carried through us upon the breath. Pranayama is literally the movement
of prana, or life energy. The Bhandas resist the dissipation of this
energy from the lower energy centers at the base of your spine, and
instead channel the energy upwards. Regardless of your thoughts about
this belief — scientific, rational or otherwise, the point is to
experience the practice of pranayama and gain what you can. Try these
breathing practices with the Bhandas and see if you’re not energized
beyond your everyday experience of breathing.
Please keep in mind the cautions mentioned in the introduction to the
section on Pranayama. These practices are very powerful, and should be
entered into with respect. Find an experienced teacher to work with you
in live classes in addition to your work from this site. Notice your own
reactions, and stop if you feel discomfort in any exercise. Going too
fast with many of these exercises can lead to dizziness or feeling light
headed (often due to mild hyperventilation). If this occurs, just sit
back and rest a while. Then, try a modified, simpler version or slower
pace with the exercise. Those with a history of high blood pressure are
advised to take extra precautions and to consult a physician before
undertaking these practices.

This morning started out early. I woke up at 6AM for attend to my new
puppy. As I got him to sleep on my chest on the couch, I started to doze
off. This is the perfect recipe for an OBE. I was in and out of sleep,
like a yo-yo in and out of consciousness. I started to feel the tingle
and buzzing within my mind. So I focused on the roll out method instead
of the up and lift. I made myself feel as if I were rolling off the
couch, and sure enough I felt like I the oil in water, slowly moving
down towards the floor. I had forgotten what a wonderful sensation it
was to go OBE, I could feel my power point near my first chakras fire up
with wonderful energy.I was now on the floor wondering where to go next,
when all of a sudden, my cell phone alarm goes off. All I could think of
was 'damn'.
Good Luck to all of you!

Last night's stuff was in my following email. Wasn't that exciting huh?
The "bang" was because
it reminded me of the bangs and noises that are said to happen during
conscious projection.
Hmm. Who knows. I'll have to wait until my next episode of projection.

That's so cool! I feel Hypnotherapy would be more satisfying professionally than just building databases.
So we live in hope.
Currently, Coles Group (formerly ColesMyer Ltd which I used to work for) is looking at a DBA position for me and want me back in Melbourne. So I'm either going to get my Hyp Certificate here or back in my home town. :-)
Meanwhile I have some interesting experiences from last night when I tried to autosuggest APing.

I decided my current Iso routine wasn't doing all I wanted.
So I collapsed on the bed and autosuggested that I can have a full AP
lying on my side (specifically my left side)
and that I would. Usually I only AP whilst laying on my back and when
on my left I get stuck at the hips. It's ridiculous.
Anyhow, I dreamt I was in an elevator and naturally it rose up and then
started freefalling. This is usually prelude to a
lucid dream with me but that never happened, I rationalised it away in
my dream, but it could well have been the falling
of the phantom ;-).
Then I was in this room in my dream and heard a loud bang, like a
firecracker going off only much louder. I asked my friend in
my dream whether it was in fact a firecracker. Then I woke up and just
to be sure I asked my wife whether she had heard a loud explosive bang.
Nope. She was fast asleep before I woke her and asked her.
I'm guessing a projection where I failed to recognise the fact or
become aware of any surroundings other than my dream.
I'll try this again tonight.
The physical exercise may have helped or may not.

I've been trying to autosuggest the Astral Projection process over the last few weeks and either I'm too tired or whatever. Actually, work stress doesn't help.
But, having said this, I'm looking at a career change. From Database Administrator to Clinical Hypnotherapist. I've got to check out the job opportunities, and everytime I try to get into the mental health sciences I get screwed by reality (bills, fate etc) that pushes me back into computers.
I'm figuring that it on the third attempt to get into something along the lines of psychology, this one will also provide an avenue for increased astral projections. All IT does is get in the way and make for an arduous life of stress and dealing with idiots who run companies. You get some of my motivation to change career.
So tonight I'm making another attempt to AP.
I youtubed some videos on APing and got some hypnotherapist guy who basically does that "wide eyed over emphasised words" sales pitch on how he APs regularly after learning self-hypnosis. Yeah right, I practice self-hypnosis every morning and have done so since I was 21. Well, on occasions it works quite well but, circumstances are the issue.
There must be some people out there who AP at will. >:-) There has to be.
My screenwriting is on hold, I will get back into that shortly (in the
winter). I am doing Landscapes for the time being. Once I get that down,
I would like to try portraits. I like what you said, Life just gets in
the way of living. I'm going to use that quote in the future! Keep in
touch Duane~

I joined a Printmaking Studio this year and got back into that :-)
I'm a crap painter but good printmaker. I have to buy some solar plates
and stuff for digital art. And, I etched lino with Caustic Soda. It's
totally
cool because I can do that at home and I've worked out the aquatinting
effect
like a steel plate.
As for OBEs, life just gets in the way of living.
Sweat Lodges, I go through 4 months of that every year :-( And Summer is
coming around again. It's already becoming a waste of time drying after
a shower
as the humidity rises.
Are you still screenwriting? I'm still writing my book, slowly.

I haven't practiced Yoga for a couple of months, I'm lazy. I plan to
boost it up soon though.
Also, I have gone to 3 Shaman sweat lodges this past summer. They were
very healing and rejuvenating!

I've had only 1 OBE since last April :-( The reason being, they usually
came when I took naps. Since my kids were home form school over the
summer break, I wasn't able to nap at all during the day. Now, I am
going to back to school (On-line) and started to paint. So still my
OBE's don't come due to nonstop schedules.
I haven't practiced Yoga for a couple of months, I'm lazy. I plan to
boost it up soon though.
Also, I have gone to 3 Shaman sweat lodges this past summer. They were
very healing and rejuvenating!

Yes I was always coming back. I've just been through total stress with
my new Job and this stupid database they want. Anyhoo, I've sorted that
out today.
How have your astral projections been going? I remember for a while
there they dropped off with the study of Yoga. Was that the cause of it?
Has anyone found a reliable technique to induce Astral Projection yet?
I'm almost thinking of buying a Hypnosis CD on Astral Projection to get
the
ball rolling again.

I noticed you produced an OBE at will. Good stuff. I spend nights stressing over this stupid website at work . I'm a DBA not an ASP.NET programmer. Long story. I need to OBE to get away from it all

Welcome back, Duane. Nor have I been very intentional lately about all this "stuff." My life is also very busy at the moment. But thanks for the reminder to stay open to it. Hope to have something for you again soon.
Nothing to with with my professional life, but I do have friends that I
can share these
experiences with. I wish I worked in the astral profession :-)

...which is probably more info than anyone wanted, but it inspires a question: as we astral types go about our day to day lives, and day jobs, how does this "stuff" that moves us so have anything to do with the rest of it? I.e., does our astral activity and aspirations have anything to do with our professional lives, our friendships?
right now, I work at an outpatient clinic with a variety of people: indivduals, couples, families; adolescents and adults. Up until a few months ago, I'd worked with civilly committed sexual offenders, and before that outpatient sexual offenders. Sound fun? What I am doing right now seems very easy and light compared to the other stuff!
Oh go ahead and post it, we won't mind at all. Yes, my pic is up on another obe site. I don't have an updated one one yet. What do you do as a psychotherapist?

LIsa: Thanks. I think I've seen your pic before on another OOBE website. Is that possible? Anyway, now I am challenged to put another pic on. The one that's there now I used to have on a business card. I am a psychotherapist, and all my friends thought the picture was completely inappropriate and hokey! Now I just use it for stuff like this. It was supposed to look very "therapeutic." Nuts, huh?
