Description
This group began due to a discussion between members of Cloudynights.com on practical, medium-aperture astrographic optical systems based on Seymour Rosin's original design concept. What started as some design thoughts has morphed into real Rosin projects by some members to build 8" and 10" Rosin astrographs per designs by Mike Jones. This group is also open to the discussion of other astrographic optical designs as well, including such systems as Cassegrains with field correctors, etc.
This is a moderated group. Spamming of any type will NOT be tolerated, and will be removed as soon as possible.
Special thanks to Ed Jones for making the Rosin corrector lens sets! Ed made six sets of them, and the new picture at right shows one such set, delivered to Mike. The S-FPL52 element is on the left, and the K5 element is on the right.
Thanks to all the folks from CloudyNights for starting this group and keeping it going!
Greetings all, I thought I would provide an update on my progress with a 10" f/4.5 Rosin using COTS lenses, based on Ed's design (see the 4.1 in Ed's files). I
Arthur, You might ask OptoSigma and Melles Griot if they can coat just one side, it might even be cheaper. If they can't then you'll need to remove the coating
Ed, I like this very much. I did manage to enter it into Oslo, and the good news for me is that it seems I can use essentially the same settings and lenses
Arthur, Yes there is some interference. The sags aren't listed in the lens catalogs so I decided to just grind down each lens flat until the airspace is right,
This sounds great. But in the picture it almost looks like there is some interference between the lenses, Is that true? Two more questions: where are the
