Description

This group is dedicated to friendship through astronomy. Here we share our thoughts, our ideas, and our lives. We have only one rule; Respect everyone!

Note: We generally do not accept new members unless they are recommended by current members. We are more than willing to consider anyone for membership if they do not mind emailing a small bio along with the reason that they would like to become a member of this family. We do this to protect our current members.

Photo: A Snapshot of the Jewel Box Cluster with the ESO VLT

Caption: The FORS1 instrument on the ESO Very Large Telescope (VLT) at ESO's Paranal Observatory was used to take this exquisitely sharp close up view of the colorful Jewel Box cluster, NGC 4755. The telescope's huge mirror allowed very short exposure times: just 2.6 seconds through a blue filter (B), 1.3 seconds through a yellow/green filter (V) and 1.3 seconds through a red filter (R). The field of view spans about seven arcminutes.
