The latest version of BitPim for MacOSX works perfectly for all the various
hacks, no driver
installation required. All I did was plug in the data cable and everything just
worked. The
only tricky part can be detecting the phone, but the software is very helpful
with doing that
manually if necessary.
Hopefully someone besides a freaking spammer will read this and benefit.
Speaking of which, is there a moderator left for this group, or have they all
died? Or perhaps
we all want to meet SexyJoy and have fun with handsome and kool bikers?
I bought this phone hoping to use it in korea, I need
to unlock it to work with sk telecomm in S korea.
Unlock codes ?

Does anyone have a pn-215 from verizon that has bit or any of the
other programs out there work to pull pictures from it to the
computer? The 8915 is not a match as most think not unless the cables
I keep getting are the wrong ones. The 215 has 2 slots about 1/8 of an
inch each spaced 1/4 inch with 1/8 inch on each side of the slots.
Does anyone have the pin layout of the correct cable for a 215 that is
working or a source to get the right cable?
Ken
Unfortunately, BITPIM.ORG has decided to pull the hosting on the above
versions of bitpim, and this is causing some of you to write me to ask
for it/them. it will be a day or two, but i am working on a webpage
to host just these two files. I will let you know as soon as i am
able to accomplish this, as right now the only access i have is the
local library (remodeling...sucks)
keep the emails and posts going, i now have 2 custom ringtones
uploaded into the phone with properly hex hacked names.. still trying
to figure out the exact procedure.. but i have learned how to build a
folder.dat file for the root/i/ringers/... folder and will post my
findings along with a how to when i have completed my research.
anyone with any ideas or comments, (or who already knows a good
procedure for this) please feel free to write me at
mailbox32909@....
again, you guys are awesome

Hey all,
I've got a VirgMobl Snapper (Aud8915) and am trying to data tranfer
to a Macintosh OSX10.3. The cable I got is an Aud8900 (KQ-U8A).
No luck thus far. Any suggestions? Thanks much.
i will send the curitel driver packet that works with this phone to
anyone who sends an email to me at mailbox32909@...
please send all requests for help with the audiovox/pantech phones to
the above address.
also, as a side note, i managed (still working on how) to add one
ringtone to my 8915vm AND get the name changed using a hex editor,
although i am still stumped as to how exactly i did it. when i
completely understand the hex for VM i will post LBL instructions as
to how i accomplished it.

Does anyone know were I can get the software (that works) to upload my
photos to my PC also download ringtones and photos to my phone from my
PC? I bought a data link that fits Pn-215 but they don't tell you that
the software does not work that supports the Audiovox 8910 until after
the purchase is made. So if anyone can help please e-mail me. Thanks Don
Does anyone know how to access and have the phone display the current
location using the GPS information it sends to 911 if you call? I know
on most phones there is a way to display this info, if you could
please let me know, that would be very helpful!!
Their profile states that they are no longer a registered Ebay member, but I had an outstanding sales experience with them when paying through Paypal.
The cable you need is the one for an Audiovox 8910 (it's the same cable, though Pantech/Audiovox did change the data port 'teeth' just a bit, requiring me to bend the
'teeth' on my phone's input down with a pair of needle nose pliers....about 30 seconds of work.
Note that 3GCables only sells the cable, so you'll need to find the software to connect to your phone elsewhere.
...and a further note, if it's a Verizon phone, good luck with finding a method of transferring backgrounds and ringtones, as Verizon has the phone locked down for those directories (but if you find a method that works, PLEASE post it here).

I have a Virgin Mobile 8915 Snapper, and I am trying to get my photos
off the phone without buying more airtime.
I have a data cable (usb to phone, seems to be the straight charging
kind), and a set of drivers that came with it.
I cannot get my computer to recognize the phone with the drivers I
have, or any other of the 10+ sets I have downloaded. It always says
"not signed by windows/could not find files, etc."
I am also trying to use drivers I installed with PC Sync. They are not
working. Nothing seems to be working.
Is this bad drivers, or maybe a bad cable? This is becoming
irritating.
I am wondering how to retrieve my contact list. My phone is bricked,
won't connect through Bitpim, or Qpst. I do however have a complete
backup of the filesystem that Bitpim made. I think the file
/nvm/phbk/phonebook is a a file which I think is my contact list. But
there is no file extension, and I cannot view it in plain text. Any
help is appreciated.

Doe the Snapper have bluetooth capability? I read somewhere that the specs for
the 8915
included bluetooth. I like Virgin Mobile phone plan, but I really would like to
have a
bluetooth-enabled phone.
Ok I still cannt get the image section of pc sync to read the pn-215
to pull pictures from the phone. It flashs like it going to pull
data then just gives me the image screen no entrys no founds nada.
