So how do you keep track of all your user names and
passwords? Please don't tell me you use the same ones at
every site! Besides being almost impossible, it is also
dangerous. I also hope you're not using words commonly
found in the dictionary either! But of course, using
strong passwords means coming up with a way to keep track
of them. A software solution would seem to be in order…
but it would require attention to security along with ease
of use. As I mentioned last month, there is an open source
program available that does a good job of it... at no charge!
Have you noticed that some web pages and favorites have
special icons… and the rest have that generic one with
the blue E? And later, IE seems to forget what some of
them were? There is another freeware program that will
find all of those it can and make it faster to spot them
again in a long list.
I have tried to use various "download managers" in the
past… and they either came with spyware or they just included
features I just didn't need. I've since devised a simple
method for recording where I downloaded a program from for
future reference and will show you how.
Have you started using Firefox? And not been able to install
extensions…like me? A hint from another member put me on the
track to resolving it.
Jim will have some words of wisdom on SP2 as it affects wi-fi
access. We'll also discuss SP2 amongst each other… and
we'll need to discuss meeting location/night again (sorry!)…
and if there is any more time, we'll discuss the updates to
a couple of past goodies.
Hope to see y'all there...
