Math & Science Tutorial and Mentorship for Grades 6-12. The program is coordinated via a Partnership including:
. United States Naval Academy;
. National Institutes of Health;
. Montgomery County Schools(lead); and
. Parents and Teachers.
Other participating schools include:
. Prince George County and
. Howard County.

Mission - The Benjamin Banneker Honors Math and Science Society (BBHMSS) is an organization whose mission is to improve students academic standing with respect to mathematics and science. An essential component of this process, that the BBHMSS addresses, is to reduce historical performance and achievement inhibitions within these two disciplines. While the emphasis is on mathematics and science, the ultimate goal is to promote the development of the total student who is academically motivated and responsibly focused. The promotion process requires supplemental activities in;

A. Scholastic Achievement: This is a principal performance measurement component of development involving realizing results on Standardized tests in Montgomery County Schools.

B. Academic mentoring: This is a core area of development that affects all levels and a student’s achievement academically and socially. To maximize interactions and encourage communications, the BBHMSS seeks enhanced bonds among: Students, Parent, Mentors (e.g. Midshipmen), and Teachers.

C. Economics: Ultimately, the productive student is empowered to employ financial skills, establish financial goals and engage economic opportunities using sound judgement based on current information. The results promote healthy, thriving families that are economically fit and contribute to growth within the community.
