BDPAers, the 13th Annual Education & Scholarship Luncheon for the Cincinnati Chapter was held on Saturday.
The title of the Keynote Address was Global Strategy for the IT Professional” The Keynote Speaker was Brett Bonner, Director of Research and Development at the Kroger Co. The talk really focused on innovation. The word innovation conjures up many different visions, however a definition that I like is “A creative idea that is realized [(Franz Johansson)] (Harvard Business School Press, 2004)”  Brett spoke about the process and economic yields of innovation. As you can imagine, major businesses would cease to exist in a few years without continuous innovation.

This is a lengthy topic; however, one that I believe can lead to great gains from both a business and personal perspective. It’s
also one that can’t be handled adequately in an email message. The speaker gave us a web link that contains pod casts on the topic of innovation. I listened to one of them this morning and found it quite enlightening. I recommend that you check-out

www.killerinnovations.com

I think you will find enlightenment from the material on the website. I think it’s best to listen to one of the pod casts (August 19th) http://libsyn.com/media/philmckinney/KI_20070819.mp3  before trying to deal with the prose on the website. I also think it’s best to take the information in small doses.

Have a great day!

Frank
