Dear all,
I am writing to let you know that I have uploaded the first volume of "II-V-I Jazz Lines in Fourths" project in the "Downloads" section of www.jkchang.com. The process was a bit more time consuming than previously anticipated:-P) This volume of the jazz
improvisational lines focuses upon the linear constructions based upon
the intervallic value of the perfect fourth, and sporadically, the
augmented fourth. The non-triadic formula generates ambiguous tonal
emphasis, producing comparatively invigorating sonority. The
unremitting sequence of the perfect fourths and its inverted version,
the perfect fifths is used infrequently to avoid the predictable linear
construction. It is recommended that users start the exercises in a
comfortable speed and gradually build up the facility to satisfy the
technical demands in faster tempos.
I also got some time to construct BIAB .mgu files, in case some of you prefer to exercise your aural skill. You might also notice that there are some changes in the "Downloads." The second volume of "II-V-I Jazz Lines in Fourths" project and some other sight-reading projects for saxophone are still under construction. The big banner stating "MWF Downloads" will soon be used to host blues etudes in the style of Charlier Parker. Hopefully, I will have the time to complete it in one to two weeks:-)
Additionally, please submit your idea and suggestion in the "comment" section of "Downloads" page if you are specific requests for new biab materials. Please leave suggestions for existing projects in their corresponding pages. Thank you.
As always, I hope these materials will be useful to some of you:-)
Regards,
J.K.
