Backlash-ology is a research-oriented list designed to inform the clinical, basic science, and legal issues surrounding the backlash against child sexual abuse (CSA) awareness. In addition to CSA survivors and their supporters, this list is intended for mental health professionals who treat survivors, attorneys who represent survivors in legal proceedings, members of the judiciary, and policymakers in government and other institutions. The most recent knowledge on relevant topics is culled from peer-reviewed journals on a regular and frequent basis. Examples of such topics are traumatic amnesia and delayed recall, conditions for which CSA survivors are at increased risk (e.g., PTSD, depression, borderline personality disorder, dissociative identity disorder, substance abuse disorders, eating disorders), and trauma treatment. The popular media is also monitored for important news and commentary relating to or emanating from the backlash.
