This is the Balloon Satellite Page for the collaboration between Southern Oregon University and ScienceWorks Hands-On Museum. The Southern Oregon Balloon Satellite Project is a group of Science Educators, Students, Scientists and others interested in Science and Technology. We are dedicated to providing hands on science experience for our community.
The Balloon Satellite program will launch and recover scientific payloads to 100,000 foot altitudes using low cost balloons. We are looking to build our numbers by getting others excited about launching Balloon Satellites in Southern Oregon.
(The above photo was taken at 90,000 feet above the Earth from a camera aboard our first launch in May of 2006)
