A gathering place, announcement board, and online "sign in sheet" for all local stargazers in Terrebonne, Lafourche, and the surrounding parishes. The focus here is on the bayou Louisiana parishes, but all amateur astronomers from the Southern Gulf Coast are invited to join.
The purpose of this group is to share local dark sites, organize star parties, facilitate gear swapping/sales, or just to "talk shop".
If you are not the sociable type, and don't want to get involved in discussions about the hobby, then please register with the group so we know you exist - it's nice to know just how many amateur astronomers we have hiding in the nooks and crannies down here. We won't bother you or spam you, but we may contact you in the future when it comes time to organize a local star party. If you would like to be included in any outreach events or gatherings, then please register here. It will only take a minute to introduce yourself and perhaps post a few lines about your equipment.
Persons interested in fighting local light pollution are also invited to register.
