This Community Emergency Response Team (BBVCERT) forum has been established for the CERT members of the Big Bear Valley area communities of San Bernardino County, California, as well as those that would like to join our CERTs.
The purpose of this forum is to:
· Provide a forum for the discussion of CERT topics of concern to CERT members
· Distribute information to team members including resources for equipment, upcoming meetings, training opportunities, exercises, etc.
· Foster team-building and communication between members
· Explore methods of recruiting new CERT volunteers
· Help promote Emergency Preparedness

This is a volunteer organization designed to help people help themselves and others in a time of a crisis.
Local government prepares for everyday emergencies. However, during a disaster, the number and scope of incidents can overwhelm conventional emergency services.
The CERT program is a valuable course designed to help you protect yourself, your family, your neighbors and your neighborhood in an emergency situation.
In the CERT training, citizens learn to:
· Manage utilities and put out small fires
· Treat the three medical killers by
o opening airways
o controlling bleeding
o treating for shock
· Provide basic medical aid
· Search for and rescue victims safely
· Organize themselves and spontaneous volunteers to be effective
· Collect disaster intelligence to support first responder efforts
