Information and discussion list on all aspects of biology, ecology, behaviour, number, distribution, migrations and conservation etc. of the birds of Eastern Europe and Northern Asia (within the borders of the ex-USSR). This area is limited not by political borders, but by existence of the serious literature published mainly in one language -Russian. Assistance in deletion of language barrier - one of the main purposes of this group. The territory is huge - the 1/6th part of the global land surface, on two continents on 22 mln square km inhabited by about 800 bird species. For convenience under "Russia" we consider all 15 independent countries formed previously the ex-USSR but any letters from neighboring regions are welcome.

The group is open to anybody seriously interested in the birds of this vast area.
