No delay on city bypass despite archaeological digs on four sites

ARCHAEOLOGISTS excavating four key sites on the route of the planned
Waterford city bypass have given an assurance that their work will not
hinder work on the new route which is scheduled to get underway next
year.

A team of international archaeologists have been working on various
different sites for the past twelve months and now their main focus is on
the South Kilkenny area along the path of the proposed new road which will
link the Slieverue area to the junction at Grannagh.

So far the archaeologists have discovered a number of historical artefacts
dating back thousands of years to as early as the Bronze Age.
