John Kelleher, Shattuck Professor of Irish Studies Emeritus at Harvard
University, died on January 1 after a brief illness. His funeral will be
held on Tuesday, January 6, in Clayton MO.
John had been told only a month ago that the Department of Celtic Languages
and LIteratures at Harvard, in which he taught for so many years, was
preparing to institute an annual lecture in his honor. That annual lecture
will now serve as a memorial to John, and information about it is
forthcoming.
In consideration of the family's desire for privacy at this time, CSANA
members are invited to send their condolences to the Kelleher family c/o the
Department of Celtic Languages and LIteratures, Harvard University, Barker
Center, 12 Quincy Street, Cambridge MA 02138. The department will forward
all messages to John's four daughters and their families.
His students are far from alone in feeling this loss, which is significant
for everyone in the world of Irish studies.
