Having problems with message search?
Well, with the right equipment, e.g. our J1939 data center style toolset (designed for J1939 protocols, but can also be used for other Automotive CAN protocols), you can get most of the basic protocol figured out. Not so hard at all.
The following is a demo on automotive (e.g. Subaru (Bosch) ABS) CAN communication simulation module based on the real vehicle:

The ABS CAN simulator can measure the speed from a 5 pulse hall sensor and broadcast the vehicle speed info to the Engine ECU. The CAN simulator will prevent the Engine ECU enter the limp-home mode. This CAN simulator is an essential equipment to re-use the famous Subaru box Engines (05 later models) on airplanes, VW Vanagon Vans or older Subaru vehicles.
