There is NO LONGER a problem using TCP/IP protocol, the database host Freedb seems to have fixed it. HighRoad Software ... the ... database

problem with Add CD when using TCP/IP protocol
If you've attempted to add a CD to your collection by putting it in your CD/DVD-ROM drive then clicking the Add CD button but received a "Socket error #1006x"
