Re: [CDV700CLUB] Kr85 Krypton Check Source aka EG&G OGP-44L Overvoltage Spark Gap.

I'm not exactly sure how the OGP-44L compares to your old vacuum tube, but for the OBP-44L I just received from the seller, and a quick test shows it performs as advertised.

Testing conducted using Ludlum Model 3 Survey Meter with Bicron PGM pancake probe.

Background count, 10 minute average: 23.4 CPM
OGP-44L tube placed under probe's screen, 10 minute average: 71.6 CPM

The seller stated, "this rather anemic Kr-85 check source.
Kr85 has a weak 514kV gamma line and stronger Bremsstrahlung below that from the betas.
The total activity is about 2X to 3X above background, about 20uR-30uR.
It's not going to knock your socks off."

The seller's claim for the tube's activity is "about 2X to 3X above background" is accurate based upon this tube and test measurements. Since the measured response turned out to be 3.06 times background for this tube, I gave the seller great feedback for his accuracy and reasonable price :-)

I saw that too, but it's very weak and the noble gas won't stick to a label very well. ... From: Ronald Nystrom <stearman59791@...> Subject: [CDV700CLUB]...
