Dear CFDBible Member;

The CFDBible committee calls for the CFD picture of the month.
Interested individuals or organizations can contribute self
owned or courtesy pictures, all are welcome.

The picture should show a demonstrative solution for a
relatively complex problem. All applications are welcomed.
The contributer can put his/her name and/or organization on the
picture as publicity. He/she can, optionally, mention
the used software and visualization package. It will also be
better to give some info about the problems physics to gain
the viewer interest.

The picture should be in JPG, PNG, GIF, or BMP formats
with good size and resolution of course. All contributed
pictures will be filtered by the committee and the resulting
collection will be polled on by all the group members.

Please send your pictures to: CFDBible@...
or to the CFDBible group at : CFDBible@yahoogroups.com

Finally, we don't have to tell you that CFDBible committee
is very open minded for all members' ideas.

Hi folks
There aren't many messages on this forum - I wonder if anyone is
listening.
I want to design 3D boat hulls in TurboCAD and use a mesh program to
generate a grid or mesh around them so I can analyze their
performance. Is there a free or low cost mesh generation program for
Windows which accepts standard form CAD input file formats, such as 3DS
, DAE (Collada),OR SVG, and then use the grig to calculate fluid
velocity, pressure, etc.?
Thanks

Dear Friends,

Recently I have solved rearward step (backward step) problem.
I compare results of TVD, ACM, and Experimental.
Just after step, TVD (Yee-Davis) is predicting low pressure ratio (P/Pinf) while ACM44 is predicting very accurate results (Please see attach file). But in downstream  region  both schemes (TVD and ACM44) over predicting  pressure ratio.

May you please explain me that:

1.  After step, why TVD is predicting low pressure ratio (P/Pinf) while ACM44 is predicting very accurate results???

2.  At downstream  region,  both schemes (TVD and ACM44) over predicting  pressure ratio???

Thanks and Regards

M.S.Ramaiah School of Advanced Studies

Date: 12th, 13th & 14th March 2009
(Thursday, Friday & Saturday)

Overview:
Today's technological advancements happening in industrial and commercial applications are driven by the semiconductor industry. Integrated circuits are a combination of smart analog and digital design integrated together and controlled by software. System on Chip is the technology for the next generation that integrates dedicated sensors, bio electronics, signal processing hardware's, power electronics and software's. Every product having human interface and for commercial applications have analog and mixed signal circuits. Circuit complexities and operating frequency of mixed signal circuits are increasing with demand, hence low power schemes and verification methodologies are very much required. However, the basic building blocks for mixed signal circuits that are the converters, filters and PLL still pose a challenge for engineers in designing, modeling and verifying the system. Many researchers and scientists have recommended design methods and solutions for beginners to get into the design of mixed signal circuits. This seminar is one such approach that enlightens engineers, faculties, researchers and students into the field of mixed signal IC design. In this seminar, expert speakers from industries and academics have been invited to share their design experiences in the filed of mixed signal IC design. Sharing the knowledge and experiences of these people will make an important contribution to the overall quality of the current and future design activities of the designers involved.

Objectives:
• To discuss the mixed signal IC design market, past, present and future trends
• To discuss the importance of MOS models and its impact on design
• To demonstrate the importance of software reference models for mixed signal IC design
• To design, model and analyze converters, filters and PLLs
• To set up a platform for the delegates to discuss with industry experts, scientists and academicians for sharing their experiences

Who should attend?

Dear CFDBible Member;

I am working on FLUENT 6.3 on a Circulating fluidised bed "Reactor" case. I am
just not sure which model shall I use to model the catalytic reactions in my
multiphase case (Gas-Solid flow).
There are 2 options:-
1- Use heterogeneous model which I can find at "Define-->Phases-->
Interactions--> Reactions"
2- Enable "Particle Surface" reaction from "Define--> Models-->Species--->
Transport & Reaction" then define the reaction from Mixture material properties
at "Define materials" and choose catalyst as a solid phase.

Which one shall I go for, or do both of them work?

I am highly appreciating your cooperation.
Thanks in advance and looking forward for you reply.

Hi
Sorry for late reply. you have to press and hold the key on the straight line icon on right panel and it will open, then there are all of the options for drawing lines in GAMBIT. There is another method that is used for airfoils which is by adding a lot of point and then straightly connecting them to each other, this may seems a little ugly but it is thoroughly accepted in literature even for accurate works. I guess if your curve dont be a part of circle you have to take the second way.

Thank & bye

hi,

for curve geometries like airfoil or turbine blade in gambit is difficult to draw if it is not arc of a circle. when drawing a curve in gambit, we have to either specify three points on arc or by center and two points on the circle, but airfoil is not a single arc so the way is, draw the geometry in cad software like proe or autocad or solid work then generate the coordinate of the point required for gambit as told earlier this will generate accurate geometry other direct method may approximate the geometry in gambit..

the other method may be complex for a beginner, save the cad geometry in iges format and import the vertex data in gambit, this is fast process but may have problem in big geometries.

hope this may help you..

By the way, How to draw a curve in Gambit? The curve has no equation so i cannot draw easily. I'm lookin foward to get your reply!!! Thanks for your Attention.

Dear Mr mahdi

Thanks for your reply. I'll try ^^. I've other question for you, when i wanna simulate an airfoil GOE type. there is some thing wrong. The value of Cl is close to hand book but Cd is far to hand book. what's wrong with my simulation??
I'm looking forward to receiving your answer.

Thank & bye
