Hi guys,
I have to apologise at having neglected this group for some time, as
I am sure you are aware life at the CFZ has been fairly difficult
recently. My health is also deteriorating, and I spend more time ill
in bed than I did - for example - a year ago. Therefore, especially
if we are to continue expanding the CFZ, I need to call back on my
call of volunteers to an extent that I have not done before.
I know that several of you are far more au fait with computers than I
am and therefore, I would like some assistance.
I need to do the following things:
1 password protect the webpage. I am sure this can be done either in
basic HTM or by using a fairly simple add on application, but can
someone tell me how to do it?
2 I want to know how to purchase a password via Paypal. After many
requests, I have decided to make my back catalogue of music available
on the CFZ site. However, in an attempt to boost funds, I want to
take a leaf out of Radiohead's book, and make it that each person
downloading has to make an ad hoc donation to the CFZ funds. I don't
want this donation to be a set sum, rather, like Radiohead - I want
to leave it up to the discretion of each individual purchaser. Even
if everybody donates 50p, I hope that the music that I made back in
the day, and my new album which will be available imminently, will be
popular enough to at least bring in a steady stream of at least 50p
or £1 donations. Any ideas about how I can do this?
3 I want to set up a series of databases similar to this one:
http://www.marwell.org.uk/marwell_zoo/zoo_guide/encyclopaedia.asp
As many of you will know, we have just become financially involved
with a small zoo just outside Minehead. This is an ideal opportunity
for the CFZ to get more involved with more hands on conservation
work, and - basically - I want to nick Marwell Zoo's database and use
it both for the zoo and for the CFZ homepage. Any idea how I can do
this?
4 Colin and Dino. A year or so back you were working on the ident-e-
cat programme for the CFZ. Has there been any progress? If so, can
you fill me in on what else needs to be done. If you are unable to
continue, can you let us know so that we can find someone else?
Just in case you haven't seen it, our latest project is the monthly
web TV show On the Track which can be found at:
http://cfzmonthly.blogspot.com/
Any suggestions about how this can be improved would be gratefully
received.
The programme of building, which has taken up so much of this year,
has come in grossly over budget. The CFZ is rapidly running out of
money. Any suggestions as to how we can do a quick bit of
fundraising would be gratefully received.
Keep in touch guys,
Onwards and upwards
Jon
