Dear Friends,

I promised you that there was more.

THE RUSSIA 2008 EXPEDITION

a few weeks ago I appeared on the BBC Radio 4 Today programme, and that evening Richard and I appeared at the Grant Museum of Natural History in London where, during our talk, we announced the launch of our new expedition. In a couple of weeks a five-man team from the CFZ will be travelling to Karbadino Balkaria in southern Russia, and in conjunction with Ukrainian zoologist Grigoriy Panchenko, we will be carrying out a three-week hunt for the fabled almasty or wild man. The expedition web site will be launched next week, and we have to particularly exciting news which we cannot divulge until then, but in the meantime, why not go to:

http://cfzmonthly.blogspot.com/

and watch the latest edition of On The Track which contains, not only Richard and me talking about the expedition, and its aims, but a whole lot of other stuff, including a world exclusive: the first film ever taken of a leucistic smooth newt. As far as we are aware, this is only the second specimen ever found, and the first to be filmed.

Tickets for this year's event, which will be held over the weekend of the 16-18 August, are already selling fast, and I would strongly suggest that people by their tickets soon. Events specifically for kids are in red. The talks marked with *** are those that we especially recommend for children under the age of 12, although - of course - they are welcome at any that they care to attend...
