Canadian Peace Research Education Association ( CPREA ) was founded in 1966 as a Learned Society to advance research and promote education on the causes of war and the conditions of peace. To this end the Association undertakes to: 1) Institute communication and contacts among those engaged in peace research or education; 2) Encourage the interdisciplinary study of war and peace in Canadian schools and research institutes; 3) Cooperate in the popularization of knowledge about international conflict and its resolution. "Peace Research" is CPREA's official journal. CPREA is an independent body supported by members' fees and private donations.
Regular membership is open to academics, teachers, and researchers in various disciplines. Regular membership includes subscription to "Peace Research". Associate membership is open to students, to unemployed educators, retired or non-resident academics, and to people involved in peace-negotiations, peace-activities and peace-education. Organizations and institutions can be affiliated to CPREA through Institutional Membership.
