Wed JULY 9 at 7 pm -- STEVE LEEPER coming with a Hibakasha (Hiroshima
survivor) -- UNCA -- Laurel Forum in Karpen Hall -- there will also be
an exhibit of works by survivors of the Hiroshima bombing...other events
in August...

Lew will be away from June 20 -- July 4

Robbie will be willing to go for 1/2 day on Saturday, Mary will be
there, Lew will coordinate volunteers,
Mary will reach out to Anne, Nancy, Cindy and others who do not
regularly attend meeting to see if they will volunteer
Lew will do the registration for CSNC with CSNC funds in the PSR account
-- and if PSR wants a booth, CSNC will cover the tables and chairs for
both CSNC and PSR and electrical too
Mary will contact Ned directly about NIRS booth.

IL, MN, KS, SD, TX, LA, NV, CA, NM, TN, KY

Highlighted the closure of Barnwell, import of rad waste from Italy--
processing and incineration in TN, disposal in landfills in TN and
Utah... and the GNEP reprocessing

investigating uranium mining -- $15 billion deposit -- on the border of NC

CSNC can take a leadership role in designing this day of action on nuke
transport -- after new administration is in -- and after we have the
experience of passing our ordinance

LIEBERMAN -- WARNER
No votes -- Reid pulled the bill (did not have enough votes to overcome
Republican filibuster -- meanwhile a huge storm hit on Capitol Hill -- 5
tornadoes -- THAT MORNING!

MEETING WITH BELLAMY / ORDINANCE UPDATE --
Mike says it will be hard to get data on accidents but he wrote a story
on the uranium truck that fell over -- 95 & 40 -- truck fell over...his
story about this is posted on his web site -- under "features"
Cake in the Rain -- Cecil Bothwell's story on Uranyl Nitrate
For future -- Chemical spill -- Grant Gouge can talk about accident
consequences

Looking for comments from Bellamy -- meeting with her tomorrow -- 11 am
-- meeting at 10:30 in the lobby
Will emphasize that she has heard about this at the briefing for
emergency responders in 2007 -- that this is our draft based on the City
of Las Vegas ordinance
Will emphasize that this waste (with very few exceptions) is NOT
currently moving --
Have maps and a copy of the report,

Mary will update the Asheville at the Nuclear Crossroads -- and send to
Mike for critique and improvement -- this will be the opportunity follow
up with the mayor when it is updated.

CARBON FREE, NUCLEAR FREE
Robbie got a story in the June 5 Asheville Tribune about Arjun's Carbon
Free, Nuclear Free talk at UNCA -- collaboration by Mike, Robbie, Ned --
thanks to Robbie contacting Fishburn --
Pentagon project -- still hypothetical -- misunderstanding -- Randy,
Mike, Bette and Robbie all thought that was an official Pentagon program
-- disappointed.
Arjun excited -- Progress Energy and Randy Flack of Shuler's office were
there....needs to be clearer about Utah and TX too. Mary will give feedback.

Mary spoke to Ned -- he will be in touch soon re: presentations at SEE
Expo -- and will look for the CSNC and PSR (hopefully) registrations soon.
