ATTEND: The
Nuclear Regulatory Commission Atomic Safety and Licensing Board hearing
in Gaffney, South Carolina
The NRC judges
will hear arguments on a Duke Energy
Carolinas proposal for nuclear plants on the Broad River in Cherokee
County. The hearing will begin at 9:30 AM on Wednesday at the Cherokee
County Courthouse located at 125 East Floyd Baker Blvd, Gaffney, SC
29340. Duke's attorneys will argue for the proposal, Blue Ridge Environmental Defense League will
argue against!
A large anti-nuclear
public turnout in the courtroom would tell the judges that people are
opposed!
Organize a carpool to
save gas and come to Gaffney!
The
Blue Ridge Environmental Defense League
filed a petition against Duke's proposal on June 27th. The
petition made ten major arguments against the proposal
including experimental reactor design, excessive water use, earthquake
problems, public health and safety risks, financial instability, better
alternatives, radioactive waste and others. Lou Zeller will argue for BREDL.
To see details of the
legal case and other information about nukes, go to www.BREDL.org
and look for the Duke Energy William States Lee combined operating
license.
No nukes!
