maybe Tamron has improved their glass since my bad experience. I've
just never heard of a really good lens with such a wide zoom range. The
optics must be really great. I'd like to see your photos ! :-)

I'm confused.... how can an 18-200mm lens be a GREAT lens.... the range
is enormous. I had a 50-500 Tamron lens once that was the worst piece
of glass I ever owned. Seems to me that this range is really pushing
the limits of what a zoom lens can deliver. What megapixel range are
you using this with?

I concur... the EOS Rebel XTi has 10mp and you can put any EOS lens on
it.. great buy, they body usually retails for $700 to $800. If you are
just starting out, I would reccomend this camera and then buy the best
lens you can afford. You can always upgrade the camera body in the
future and make the XTi your backup in a few years....

Hi Melissa,
How much are you willing to spend? EOS Rebel XTi with a decent lens
should be around $1100-1200.
Cheers,
Al

Hello! I'd like to hear your opinions on the various Canon SLRs. I'm
looking at getting a new camera soon. I want something that's
semiprofessional, if that makes sense. I would love to hear your
suggestions!!
Thank you!
Melissa
