its ironic that it was considered the 'book of the dead', and recited over mummies, since i think it was intended as a guide to enlightenment and immortality.  the living would benefit the most.  we cayce believers accept that it was first written by ra ta, a former incarnation of cayce ca 10,000 bce.
the opening the mouth was poorly reproduced in the images that were posted.  the wand also looked to be of wood.  they will find the earliest 'tool' was more precisely designed in the shape of ursa major.
a must read to progress in wisdom, imho, is learning the stars, both with eyes and mind.  there may be learning had just by gazing at the stars and planets.  book on lore is 'star names - their lore and meaning'.  then learn the constellations of the zodiac, one at a time each month.  know you are looking at mizar, in the big dipper handle bend.  called the 'horse and rider'.  they somehow knew it had a smaller binary star circling it!  now we know each of them are binary themselves, so 4 stars are producing the one beam of light that enters our eye and mind.  also look thru an empty paper tube, to isolate a star like mizar.  the ancients said this group of 4 stars were thrown to the bear from the pleiades, saying the one lost a seventh, while the bear gained a seventh.  i used a field guide on stars to learn them.  im no expert, and have been to far off places, where i was confused in identifying them.  each lattitude they appear different.
in the full reading of the bible, if one keeps careful notes, it appears that a line here and another thru the scripture says the following.  'you wont find wisdom in the east'.  later 'you dont find wisdom in the west', then far off 'you dont find wisdom in the south'.  i realized the answer is 'you find wisdom looking north'.   the highly reverred stars that never set.
i have the notion that whichever country sits below ursa major is favored to be the leading civilization.  thus civilization marches westward.

imho
Kind regards,
Mike White
