Atlantis Rising: Donato on Hutton   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #91 of 403 |
To all readers of Atlantis Rising Magazine:

The latest issue of Atlantis Rising (#52)
featured a supposed "letter to the editor"  from archaeologist William Donato under the banner headline "Battleground Bahamas".

On behalf of my friend and colleague Bill Donato, I would like to inform the readership that this letter was published without Bill's knowledge and consent, and without Dr. Greg Little's whose comments were also attached to that email.

That letter was NEVER intended to be a letter to the editor for public dissemination and was actually a private correspondence sent to Doug Kenyon (the publisher of Atlantis Rising and friend/supporter of Bill Donato's), Dr. Greg Little, and myself.

Bill and Greg had NO intention of mounting a public attack and expose on Dr. Hutton.  While Bill certainly disagrees with Hutton's (and Eugene Shinn's) assessment of the Bimini Road as a natural formation (a notion completely demolished by a large, growing  body of archaeological evidence I might add), as well as Hutton's interpretation of key Edgar Cayce readings concerning Atlantis, he actually has a lot of respect for all the research Hutton has done over the years at Bimini, and for the Association for Research and Enlightenment.  The letter was merely an expression of personal opinion  on these matters shared amongst friends.

I'm not certain why Doug Kenyon decided to print the letter under a large sensational headline "Battle ground Bahamas".  Would a controversy like this really sell more magazines?  Did he feel that the public should know Dr. Hutton's true identity, agenda and possible motives? Is he baiting Hutton to reply? Dr. Hutton NEVER posed a threat nor hindrance to the ARE's, APEX/TAO's archaeological investigations.

If Kenyon's goal was to highlight a controversy he would have done better to publish (with permission) Dr. Little's recent essay on the Bimini Road located at:
It was was certainly a more ethically-written and factual account of matters concerning research done on the Bimini Road.
