Description
CeleStar 8 Users
This is a group of Celestron CeleStar 8 aficionados. The C8 is still considered one of the premier light-weight amateur telescopes today. The Celestron CeleStar 8 was and still is a very popular schmidt-cassegrain telescope. It was manufactured from 1980-1998. To the best of our knowledge, the CeleStar 8 has never had a serious problem. It had no GOTO capability, but had setting circles that one could use if the object was hard to find. The C8 also came with optional slow-motion hand control box and a DEC motor for guiding long exposure film astrophotography. The power supply is a simple 9-volt battery that would last 50 hours. It is easy to use and light enough to be very portable. Using a Celestron 2" diagonal that can be simply screwed on the rear cell, one can increase their view with two-inch eyepieces. The purpose of this group is to share information on how to use and maintain this jewel of a telescope.

Our "owners" of the group are Fred Howell, Marcelo Saavedra, and Freddy Diaz. Our moderators are George Cushing and Rick Saunders. Be sure to let any of us know if we can help or answer questions about the group.
